Calendula (or Marigold) is a popular garden flower enjoyed around the world for medicine, cookery, dye, and bright golden blossoms. Its energy is Solar and Fiery.
Magickally, Calendula is used in Solar rituals, divination, to consecrate tools, and to confer happiness, patience, and tolerance. The plant was once considered sacred to the Aztec goddess Xochiquetzal, a patron of love, art, and the dead. In Mexico, the blossoms are still offered on the Day of the Dead.
