Mini White Sage Smudge Kit (3 Pieces) - Grove and Grotto

Mini White Sage Smudge Kit (3 Pieces)

$ 5.00

Purify your sacred space with the fragrant, healing smoke of California White Sage.  Sage has been used for centuries to cleanse and consecrate.  This three-item kit includes everything you need to smudge at home or when you travel.  It’s the ideal size for solitary rituals and indoor use.

This traditional smudging kit contains objects that represent each of the four Elements, for a complete ritual cleansing: Fire (the lit smudge stick), Air (the wafting smoke and feather), Water (the abalone shell) and Earth (the ashes from the burnt herb).

You’ll receive:

One 3 x 4 inch package (approximately .5 oz) White Sage leaves.  This is a top-quality, wild-harvested product, gathered in California's Sonoran desert.  The leaves come in a re-sealable bag to protect against moisture and preserve the aromatic oils.

One genuine Red Abalone shell.  An abalone shell is the traditional vessel for Sage smudging.  Shells vary slightly in size, but are between 2-2.5 inches long.

One speckled smudging feather.  Use this to direct the smoke.  Although eagle feathers are traditional in Native American smudging ceremonies, they’re illegal to sell or own under most circumstances.  You will receive a naturally patterned guinea fowl feather measuring approximately 5-6 inches long.

About White Sage
White Sage, also called Sacred Sage or Bee Sage, is a desert shrub native to the American Southwest and Mexico.  The dried leaves have a sweet, slightly astringent aroma.  Sage is traditionally used in Native American medicine and shamanic practice.

White Sage is renowned for its healing, benevolent energy.  The scent calms the mind and purifies the body. Sage smoke is believed to have the power carry prayers to the heavens, to remove spirits, and cleanse ritual space.  Continue a tradition of healing and blessings with this remarkable plant!

How to Use the Smudge Kit

Place the abalone shell in a bowl of sand or other heat-resistant surface.   Then, put a few sage leaves in the shell and ignite with a lighter.  Blow out any open flames so that the leaves slowly smolder.  Next, waft the smoke around a room, person, or objects to bathe them in the fragrant, cleansing smoke.  Use the smudging feather to control the direction of the smoke.  For safety's sake, let the shell cool before handling it, and of course, never leave burning smudges unattended.
