A small stoneware pitcher in subtle earthtones, with a pressed leaf design on each side. A signature style by Alewine Pottery. The pitcher is in excellent condition, made of red stoneware and glazed inside and out. The bottom is signed "Alewine Pottery 2006." An Appalachian original, very well-made and very collectible!
Alewine Pottery is located in Gatlinbug, Tennessee, the work of master craftsman Robert Alewine and son Mark. Alewine uses real leaves from the Smoky Mountains which are pressed onto the piece before glazing. The leaves burn off in the kiln, leaving a beautiful resist effect and a one-of-a-kind shape.
